Life is a series of experiences that shape and mold us into who we are today. For me, that transformative journey began when I joined AIESEC in the winter term of 2021. My name is Anjalee Suraweera, and I am proud to share how my time with AIESEC has been a remarkable catalyst for personal growth, unlocking my potential and shaping the person I am today.

From the moment I stepped into the world of AIESEC, I knew I was embarking on a journey that would change my life. Each step, each role, and each responsibility presented opportunities for growth, learning, and self-discovery. AIESEC became my platform to challenge myself, expand my horizons, and embrace new experiences.

Among the countless memories and achievements, one moment stands out as truly unforgettable—the honor of receiving the prestigious Best Young Leader Award in 2022 from AIESEC in Kandy. This recognition reaffirmed my dedication and commitment to the organization and served as a testament to the transformative impact AIESEC has had on my life.

AIESEC as an experience which nurtures leadership skills

One of the most significant aspects of my AIESEC journey has been the leadership roles I undertook. As I assumed the role of Organizing Committee President for NOVA 22, the annual award ceremony of AIESEC in Kandy, I found myself leading a team and orchestrating an event that celebrated the achievements of our members. This experience nurtured my leadership skills, teaching me the art of effective management, teamwork, and the ability to inspire others.

Within AIESEC, I had the privilege of serving in various roles that allowed me to discover and harness my strengths. AIESEC provided me with ample opportunities to develop both personally and professionally. I witnessed the transformative power of connecting talented individuals with life-changing opportunities. AIESEC allowed me to develop my communication skills, adaptability, and strategic thinking. Through these experiences, I realized the importance of empathy, active listening, and collaboration in driving meaningful change.
